Run giveaways on your blog with ease with Rafflecopter

A few months ago a ran across a contest on a fellow blogger’s site and it was all managed through this thing called Rafflecopter.

Instead of trying to keep track of entries in 50 different places (Facebook, Twitter, blog replies, etc), Rafflecopter makes it easy by keeping all the entries from different networks in once place and helps you randomly select a winner. No more drawing names out of a hat or copying and pasting entries into a different service.

I was able to beta-test their service before they officially launched, and now they’re live for everyone!

If you have ever run a contest, sweepstakes or giveaway on your blog or if you ever plan on it in the future…you need Rafflecopter.

To help celebrate their official launch, they are giving away some cool prizes (iPads and Kindles)!

Through their cool widgets, you can enter their giveaway right from this blog post below (and see Rafflecopter in action):

Fancifying words is my hobby

I love how you can make the word "often" 150 times more fancy by dropping the "en". "Often used" vs "oft used" -- you be the judge.

I’m Posting every week in 2011!

I’ve decided I want to blog more. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now.  I will be posting on this blog once a week for all of 2011.

I know it won’t be easy, but it might be fun, inspiring, awesome and wonderful. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similiar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.

If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.

Signed,

#YearInReview 2010 – What I accomplished in 2010

My buddy Seth told me I should write a blog post like this, recapping the things I “shipped” in 2010. I figured I’d modify it a bit and include my general wins and things accomplished for 2010.

It also works as a nice reminder for me to finish up that last 10% of the various projects I’d like to launch.

Without further ado, here’s my year in review:

Tell me about your #YearInReview. What stands out for you?

Fatherhood isn’t Reality TV

When I was younger, I thought… “If I ever have kids, I wanna be just like Cliff Huxtable from The Cosby Show

Somewhere along the line, I think I became more like Fred Sanford (or Al Bundy).

I’m working on making my way back to at least a Bernie Mac kinda dad, and one day maybe I’ll reach Obama status (not politically speaking, just parentically speaking :)

You Sound Like a Broken Record…

You sound like a broken record
Me

Today, I said to someone jokingly “You sound like a broken record”.

Right after the words left my mouth, it already felt awkward. That simile has totally lost its relevancy in 2010. My kids don’t even know what a record player is, let along what a broken one would sound like.

Heck, just yesterday, Steve Jobs held an Apple keynote event where he introduced a new icon for iTunes 2010 saying that iTunes digital music sales will surpass CD sales by April of 2011.

Soon, “you sound like a scratched CD” won’t even make any sense :)

What’s next? “You sound like an MP3 played on a device that’s low on internal memory?”
